What happens if we miss a lesson?

Once booked, lessons cannot be refunded or credited unless cancelled by ourselves.

If you miss a lesson, where possible we will try our best to offer a catch up class, however this depends on availability.

How many swimmers per class?

Our Parent & Child lessons have a maximum of 5 swimmers per class and our Learn to Swim classes have up to 4 swimmers per class.

How long does it take to learn to swim?

Our swimming lessons are designed to help swimmers of all levels progress at their own pace. We cannot give an exact number of lessons, as every individual is different.

That's why our experienced instructors are committed to providing the best teaching methods to ensure swimmers learn, grow, and enjoy the process. Find out more by following us on our social media channels!

When should we stop swimming lessons?

The National School Curriculum requires children to be able to swim 25 metres and perform a self rescue by the end of Year 6.

At Instant Swim School, we would recommend reaching the end of our Learn to Swim programme. Which is Stage 6. By this stage we believe swimmers are safe in the water and have achieved a good level of technique and stamina. The criteria can be viewed here.

We encourage swimmers from Stage 4 & up to look into joining our Swim Academy to progress their skills even further! This runs on a Saturday afternoon at Cobham Hall, contact us today to join or book a trial.

What comes after swimming lessons?

Once your swimmer has reached Stage 4, they are ready to progress to our Swim Academy which runs on a Saturday afternoon. Here we teach swimmers how to dive, tumble turn, tread water and take part in relay races.

At this stage, swimmers are also ready to go for a swimming club trial. This is where they are able to begin racing and training as a team. There are also options including synchronised swimming, water polo and lifesaving. Find out more about our partners here.
